SATAN DRIVES TO WORK

  Hermits Are In This Year

20 April 2001

3:45 PM: OK, is it just me, or does anyone else see a headline like "Sharon Rebuffs Arafat Idea to End Violence" and wonder for a second when Sharon Stone got involved in the Middle East?

Just me, then. Check.

5:02 PM: Did I mention that I can hear now? And that my ears cleared up right about the time that I finally launched the Gigantor Project at work? How Oliver Sacks. Kinda pathetic, really. But I'm happy enough to hear, I'll take pathetic.

Read Deepsix, new Jack McDevitt book last night. You know, new books, burning a hole in my brain pocket. It was pretty good, nothing earth-shaking. Big will-they-survive-and-escape-from-the-imminent-destruction-of-the-planet? plot. Weird plant sex. Annoying smartass writer character. Sexism. Aliens with teeth. It's popcorn but I like popcorn.

This weekend's kind of up in the air. Do I really truly not have to work? I'm in shock, I think. Richard Buckner is playing Saturday, but Black Mask is the midnight movie at the Clay that night, too.

Oh my gosh! A new Hidden Dragons series! Fuck! Since March 29! How come I get no mail about this? I on mailing list! I complain! Ooh, but Dragon Inn is playing tonight, cool.

Anyway. Arab Strap is playing Sunday and Monday at BotH, too. That could also be good. And I have this new Stephen King sitting here.

I'm not sure if I'm putting my life to good purposes or not. I'm kind of just an entertainment vortex. But dammit, someone has to be. Yes they do.

6:33 PM: AAAAAAAAA!!!!! Nooooo!!! Good god, it's really true. Buffy is moving to UPN. Stupid WB fuckwits. To be triply redundant.

Willfully blind self-indulgent nebbish or amusingly quirky old coot? And how bout that local sports team? Discuss among yourselves.

All names are fake, most places are real, the author is definitely unreliable but it's all in good fun. Yep.
