SATAN DRIVES TO WORK

  brrrr

2 April 2001

7:26 PM: OK, I officially really hate working in this office. There is cold air coming from somewhere that I can't quite identify - it's not the overhead air vent, or doesn't seem to be - but whatever the source, where it's going is right straight into my face. Just the ticket for making me feel ill.

On the other hand, it was kind of useful to be walking around talking to people in person. I don't really understand why, but some times, some people, you have to be there with hand gestures and tones of voice and pointing before they pay attention to what you're telling them. (Then it's always "Oh!" As if to say, "Well why didn't you just say so?" but they seem to have sufficient cunning to understand that if they actually came out and said that I would go Lechter.)

So maybe the deal is, half a day of schmooze in the office, half a day of work at home. That could work.

Saw Magnolia last night, rented the tape. Wow. It's on two tapes, and I couldn't believe it when the first tape ran out. Felt like it had been maybe an hour at most, not two. If I think about it now, I guess that not much really happened. But I watched it almost continually on the edge of my seat thinking that something was just about to happen, and a quite awful something at that. So I wasn't disappointed, since no, that character doesn't go psycho and start killing people like you were afraid he would, this is not something you regret. Amazing movie, amazing.

Tonight: Gamera!

7:39 PM: PS: Holy Crap, it's Opening Day!

Willfully blind self-indulgent nebbish or amusingly quirky old coot? And how bout that local sports team? Discuss among yourselves.
