10:36 PM: I have this new Borg mouse from Microsoft but it's not helping. It's optical, which I gather means it doesn't have any balls. All curves and bone-colored plastic mixing with dull silver prosthetic metal, and it glows red.
The pointing arrow on the computer screen still freezes every 20 minutes or so, however. Sometimes within 5 minutes of rebooting. And rebooting is the only way to get it unstuck. Quality software, ladies and gentlemen. Ah well.
The book - book! what hubris - is in the final panic stages. My notorious task-finishing neurosis is in full bloom. No, really, it was a completely rational decision to stay up all night re-reading back issues of The Economist, and not at all related to the fact that when I did fall asleep I didn't wake up for three days and missed all my deadlines. Honest.
