5:18 PM: Oops!
Well, not that I skipped much yesterday. Work was mostly clean-up and then more pointless wrestling with character sets. I finally just gave up on them, as it wasn't really all that needed in the first place. Truth be told I'm somewhat at a loss about things to do around here lately.
Weekend Media Report: Finally went to see Chicken Run Sunday. Brilliant, of course it was, what did you think it would be? There's not much I can say that hasn't either been said, or that wouldn't give away too much. It was all I hoped for, one of those movies that you leave with sore sides and a dazed hyperventilated expression, from laughing so much. You'll believe a chicken can fly!
Also read The Jazz, new book by Melissa Scott. Was OK. Interesting attempt to imagine some of the social changes and consequences of ubiquitous Net use. Not the most riveting thing I've ever read, but does everything have to be riveting? No, how tiresome. I usually like Scott's characterizations, but not too many people get full screen-time in this story beyond the lead, so there wasn't much to go on.
Willfully blind self-indulgent nebbish or amusingly quirky old coot? And how bout that local sports team? Discuss among yourselves.

All names are fake, most places are real, the
author is definitely
unreliable but it's all in good fun. Yep.
