SATAN DRIVES TO WORK

  Not Ugly, Neither

30 October 2000

11:36 PM: Now the Lord and I know that I'm not the smartest bottle rocket that's ever been fired off on this planet, but I do like to think that I've got a few clues on a bag of horseshoes. Not so sure of that anymore, because how long has it been that I've been bitching about trying to use this form but the computer freezes while I'm doing it? Weeks? Months?

And it's only now that it occurs to me, hey, I have this G3 Mac sitting here, right next to the PC, and it never freezes up, and I understand these new-fangled Macs can even run Web browsers if you ask nicely....

D. U. M. B. Everyone's accusing me.

Anyway. The book's final absolute author-leaves-country-buhbye deadline is less than two weeks away and everything that's left to do seems quite overwhelming. Well, makes things exciting, I guess. I'm so tired. I try to think about new things and I just feel ... old.

Finally saw Nightmare Before Christmas last night. Amazing. I found the mad scientist duck-with-teeth, or whatever it was, very disturbing. I remember seeing pictures in the paper of the scale-model towns where they did the animation, it's hard to imagine having the dedication that kind of work demands.

In other news, Gore continues to lose. Remember how terrible it was when George Bush was president? How we all thought we'd be thrown into jail at any time, and poor people were shot on sight, and women had to wear those big black parachutey things? Oh wait, that didn't happen.

Willfully blind self-indulgent nebbish or amusingly quirky old coot? And how bout that local sports team? Discuss among yourselves.

All names are fake, most places are real, the author is definitely unreliable but it's all in good fun. Yep.
