On My Way Out The Door

10:20 PM: Za. Haircut again. Less exciting this time, though, don't know why. Might be related to the clearly waning stock on the whole front of my scalp. Mostly it's just the general gloom. I feel like it's the middle of winter or something.
Weekend media highlights:
- Hannibal by Thomas Harris, sequel to Silence of the Lambs. Also subject of incredibly stupid article in Salon that not only has spoilers in the subtitle and the first paragraph but in the artwork for fuck's sakes. Don't follow that link unless you don't care or you've already read it. Which you should. Another wonderful example of how Satan always gets the best lines. I read it in a day, mostly in a single sitting, because I knew I would have to no matter what else I had planned.
- Election, directed by Alexander Payne. Not very often that you can go see a film at the behest of rave reviews from every quarter, and have it turn out to be better than you expect. Election did something that made my jaw drop open in amazement about every 15 minutes. Hannibal Lecter is reassuring and kindly by comparison to Tracy Flick, Reese Witherspoon's character. Go see this. If it's been chased out of your town already by the dread Invasion of the Incredibly Stupid Summer Movies, rent it. God, I am so glad I got out of Napa...
Willfully blind self-indulgent nebbish or amusingly quirky old coot? And how bout that local sports team? Discuss among yourselves.

All names are fake, most places are real, the
author is definitely
unreliable but it's all in good fun. Yep.
