7:24 PM: Slept in today, for a change. Still eating too much. Uh oh. It's the change of life.

Which is on my mind of late, you see, life and change and pot bellies and death and that sort of thing. Because this Sunday, it is my 40th birthday. Sometimes I don't care at all, sometimes it's like bad news from the Big Doctor. No consensus opinion yet, except that I'm not pleased with most aspects of Time, which I knew anyway.

Figuring that I was going to obsess about this one anyway, I'm making more of a birthday fuss than normal. I rented the bar. Well I couldn't hold a party in my apartment, now could I? It's too much of a mess, there's no room, and I don't want all those people knowing where I live. This is much better. I figure if I can't get people to show up by offering free beer, I might as well hang it up. Er, hang it up more. "I could go even ... blinder!"

This month's pinup is Apple Venus Volume 1 by XTC, which can make the crummiest end-of-millenium afternoon a little more bearable. Mmmm, bear claw...

Willfully blind self-indulgent nebbish or amusingly quirky old coot? And how bout that local sports team? Discuss among yourselves.

All names are fake, most places are real, the author is definitely unreliable but it's all in good fun. Yep.
