  More Big Deal Making

7:33 PM: Tsk tsk! More special suffering on my part today, unlike that experienced by anyone else since the discovery of fire. I wouldn't exaggerate, either. Just look at this face - is this the face of an exaggerator? Hmm?

Yes, yes, by all means, call your representative, call Bob "Lily-Liver" Livingston. But they're going to impeach him anyway. They aren't even waiting to seat the newly-elected Congress, for pete's sakes, that shows how much interest they have in constituent opinion. What the loonies running the show are counting on is that no one will remember or care in two years. They're probably right, but it'd be fun to prove them wrong. Take down names.

I wonder how cold it actually has been lately? Probably something terrible like 45 F. Ah yes, here we go, 46. Brrrrrrr, huh? If I remember right, in Boston, they had a special word for a 45-degree day : "Spring".

U.S. 21st Century Droughts May Dwarf Dust Bowl
By Patrick Connole

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - American mega-droughts over decades and dwarfing even the 1930s' Dust Bowl could again wreck the nation's Great Plains agricultural ``bread basket'' next century, U.S. scientists warned Tuesday.

9:53: Still nothing to say. Do all the ants in a bug's life have blue eyes? What's that about? Note lower case title by the way. Very Silicon. I predict Prince of Egypt will tank. There, a firm stance about something, that's the spirit.

Here's a cheery tale, about age discrimination in the software industry. Now, because of vulnerability to lawsuits when laying off over-40 people, they're starting to zap them before they get to be 40, just in case. These people must have studied with the general staffs of World War I. The comments about the article on Slashdot are great as well:

Nonsense

I have no intention of ever allowing some young'n to beat be out. In a meritocracy, commitment and talent are everything. If you have it then you have nothing to worry about, if not, get out while your young and find a nice, comfortable insurance company.
These are the same guys who defend Boil Gates (ha! that was a real typo there. bad subconscious!) because "He is sucsesful and that is what counts in America, you are just jelous of his money!" I find it interesting that these proud advocates of libertarian jungle ethics, where the smart succeed and the others don't too bad, seem to have such problems with the English language. I guess speling is for us dumb liberels, they are too busy driving to work in their sprts car/badass SUVs.

On the other hand, there was also a comment from a fellow who had just got his math degree at 49 and was having a great time. Some hopeful signs.

Oh bla bla bla bla blablabla bla.

We're supposed to go bowling tomorrow night. Dunno bout that. It'll be OK as long as there's at least one other person who is as bad as me. Otherwise it feels too personal. If there are a lot of sucky players it can be great fun. We low achievers are generous with appreciation. "Hey, you didn't break anything! Good job!"

Willfully blind self-indulgent nebbish or amusingly quirky old coot? And how bout that local sports team? Discuss among yourselves.

All names are fake, most places are real, the author is definitely unreliable but it's all in good fun. Yep.
