Wash Is Gone, Man by Kid on 2004-09-22 14:17:20

He no longer lives in England again. As far as I know, at this point he's in Madrid and moves on to Compostela tomorrow. Who knows? He does, clearly, and I think I do I just take all his time related statements with a pinch of salt.

I love this place, man. Its like Potatoe has conquered the world; there's nary a place we can go that no-one knows nothing about. Its all good, its all good.

Kid, just listening to Belle and Sebastian sessions on the BBC; man that corporation rules.

Things change. I know this and I live knowing change is the result of time. Wash will be back. Give him time man, give him time.

He should be back next year. (That's what we're told). Its just odd - he was in France, of course, 2 years back...just always seems like a big severance each time. He's a friend...we miss him, y'know?

I miss Wash as well. He should travel to Austin Texas, it's like a whole nother country, in comparison to Great Britain anyway. What the hell, if he's gonna travel, travel to my home and state. I live in a 5 bedroom house so I got a room for him and others. I have a girlfriend who has a 3yr old girl which makes an extra 2 bedrooms open for his other companions and if everyone doubles up then that's 6 including Wash who'll sleep comfortably enough. I ain't bragging bout the size of my house, it just so happens there is lots of extra space in this here part of the world so homes can affordably be made much larger. tommie, if another hurricane aims in your general direction don't you hesitate to ask permission son, c'mon over. Invitation's extended to all hip taterites.

Whoa, JohnnyG, I really appreciate that! I'm betting we do meet one day. As I write, I'm in NYC, and I had dinner tonight with our own Amelia! We didn't know each other before we met here on PDC!

Like I said tommie, you're very welcome to stay and visit while in Austin. The condo I normally stay in at Gulf Shores was damaged severely. The owner said the roof had collapsed and there was enough of that beautiful white sand inside it to build 2 full-size sand volleyball courts. Hope your residence and community did not incur such damage. How's Amelia doing in the big apple? I travel to lovely Chattanooga in November. Need to get back to NYC, been around five years the last time I was there. Enjoy yourselves tommie.

We fared well during Ivan, thank you.
Yes, Gulf Shores is a mess. For some people, they not only lost their dwellings, they no longer even have property because the storm changed the coastline; maps will have to be redrawn. The FloraBama is gone; all that remains is part of the foundation slab. I dunno what will become of the coming year's Mullet Toss; I'm sure some kind of arrangement will be made.
NYC and Miss Amelia are great; we had dinner in a Korean restaurant. She's quite a character!

Hola todos!!! Ive found a place really near my appartment with free internet access if you have this youth card, so worry not, I´ll still be a regular potatoer!
My parents left just a couple of hours ago, so it seems like the holiday period is over, and now the real spanish life is about to begin.
This place is awesome!! There used to be one really narrow street i used to love in Canterbury which looked on to the Cathedral! Here, there are about 100 of those streets, and im living right in amongst it all! Its just gorgeous!
Apparently it rains as in England here, but we havent had one cloud since i arrived in Madrid almost a week ago, and its been a steady 32´C all week! Quite a contrast to the 4´C greeting i got in my French town 2 years ago!!!
My appartment is an 8 bedroom 4 bathroom 1 kitchen 1 living room 3 story house, with 6 bar/cafes within 50m from my front door. The impressive cathedral is just 3 minutes walk away, as is the main going-out area of the old town. Ive one housemate so far, a German girl, but 6 others are due to come at the weekend, i imagine all spanish.
A couple of days ago we went to the town where i´ll be working. Its a small town, on the mouth of the estuary, and there are 2 beaches very near. Its a really nice town, but quiet, and so i definitely made the right choice in commuting in 4 days a week. It also means i have my freedom here, far away from the school kids!
Right, im going to go write some emails, and then go eat! Sorry i missed your call the other day Kid! Use my Spanish mobile, as my English one will just stay in my room all day.
More soon, Wash!

En suma, como es el hispano? Individualista encima de todo, no le importan realmente al hispano las distinciones sociales. Cada uno es hijo de sus obras, dice. El individuo vale por lo que es, no por lo que tiene. Que mas podemos decir acerca del hispano? Juan in Tejas
