Piercings and tatoos! by Wash! on 2003-05-02 06:09:50

So, each and every one of you, do you have a tatoo? Where? What of?
And do you have any piercings? Where?

I'll start the ball rolling...

Wash: No piercings. No tatoos.

No Piercings, No tatoos Wash, was this inspired by a certain dual-nipple-pierced-hairy-belly-buttoned person we know????

Oh, boy! This is my specialty! On my left leg I have a brightly colored tattoo of Our Lady of Guadaloupe that stretches from my ankle to just below my knee; she stands on a crescent moon supported by a skeletonized cherub. My left arm has two: First is a simple Maori sun image; the second is a dripping heart with a flaming top. On my right arm is a collage that has an atom in the middle, around which is wrapped an abstract yellow and green centipede that extends over my shoulder, all filled in with a blue and black background; beneath all of that is a double helix DNA that encirles my arm. I have two piercings on my left ear. The first is actually a double, which is a 1 1/2 inch 16 gauge bar that goes through the top of the ear, in through the front then out through the back. The second is a single hole right below the back of that (still close to the top) through which I usually wear a 1/2 in ring. More to come!

No, not at all. I just remember Amelia telling us of your collection, and when i got an email from a friend(ish) telling me she had both her nipples pierced, i thought of you! Strange link, i know. I did have a temporary badboy when i went on holiday with Ringo, Skiddy and GOAU. It lasted about 2 or 3 weeks. But all i got was criticism of the skinnyness of my upper arm.

Anyway, what are you planning for the future (tatoo wise, not deep and meaningful stuff)?

How about a tattoo of Kid, with his tall hair? I'll need a picture! What would the bikers think?

They'd LOVE you, and would open Kid into their Bikers group with open arms. You'd need a long limb to fit all the hair on though. Again, i repeat, though: surely not...?

Ahem. Just to clarify, it is the "friend(ish)" who has both nipples pierced and not me. Small grammar confusion. I have one piercing in each ear lobe and no ink. Very, very dull.

Its the friend(ish) who has both nipples pierced. I am probably more in contact with you, my love, than with the friend(ish). And i also recommend to any woman reading this (so, d-.) that, though nipple piercage may be fun for one night, keep the sacredness of those beauties. Most guys would prefer sans-piercage than avec-piercage anyday (apart from the one day that it would be fun to experiment avec-piecage). Yeah, been drinking too much again. You can tell when i start speaking franglish. C'est simple, innit? Anyway, Amelia, what were you impressions of our tommie's tatoos? And do you think he should have Kid cut his hair and have a tatoo of him on his long limb (!)

I just thought I'd sweep up a little. Maybe Amelia, too, is a woman, and would be reading. You're right (i suspect) about nipple-piercing. Don't do it kids. And yes, everyone thinks I should have cut my hair, but the jury is still out as to whether it is arrogant to have a tattoo of your own face on your penis.

Hark! I meant to write "any other woman reading this". AS its obvious Amelia has already read it, and it was to her that i was replying. I think it is arrogant to have your head tatood on your penis, but having the head of a virtual friend tatood on your little buddy is another question!

Now that I'm in SF for the weekend to work and play, I'm having second thoughts about piercing anything. I'm as trendy as what's avaialble in current clothing but the characters sitting across from me in the Cup-A-Joe shop are exhibiting every type of piercing available for sating the unimaginable human desire for such displays. A veritable Sid Viscious is having a fantastic time making faces and harassing the women folk entering, he has all the ware and attitude and I'm trying hard not to laugh. Anyway, to each his own. I run a race called Bay to Breakers Sunday and will be costumed as an integrated circuit. Humiliation at its utmost. The company apartment will be made available for an impomptu vacation for Mon/Tues which I absolutely demanded of my boss before coming out here. Weather could not be better and Angel Island awaits my Saturday romp. So long to that piercing idea for now.

An integrated circuit eh? Does this mean you get to run around pointing at bits of yourself saying "Resistors are futile". Meanwhile, you could store drinks in capacitors.

Wheeee! The Bay to Breakers is sort of like Mardi Gras disguised as a sporting event. Have a blast. And I miss Angel Island. Back on topic: Remember that a bad piercing will usually grow back once you take it out, but a bad tattoo is forever (well, pretty much). Also, the piercing is just ONE needle. Why so shy?

Talk about chamber of commerce weather, man what a week in Frisco I've had! Besides the great weather which lasted my entire 6 days I also ran the bay-to-breakers event for the first 1.5 miles as a cardboard cutout of a circuit etched silicon wafer. Ridiculous, impractical, flimsy and overall poorly designed, somewhat like our competitors equipment. Anyway, I tore the thing off approaching an enormous hill before the race exited the Tenderloin district on Geary. I said the hell with this thing and gave it to a completely insane homeless man who was screaming at me and everyone else passing him by. Did not realize the number of naked folks who attend this event, wish I had brought along pen and paper and a camera (sorry, no picture of me in costume is available as far as I know). There was one very brunette brunette woman of about age 28 or so who was in superior shape in all aspects of the word superior. She motivated me to keep jogging for approx 4 miles before I gave out to a slow semi-run/walk pre-death march and I never saw her again. I vomited somewhere in a park about mile 6. Sometime that afternoon I was recovered enough to replenish my energy at a Burmese restaurant. Visited Angel island, Muir woods, countless art gallerys (no purchases), and Union Square over & over again. The apartment was located between Sutter & Jones where getting to places of interest on public transport was never any trouble. I am shy about a piercing. Anywhere on me. I don't want to experience even one second of pain from it and I know that in my mind I will always believe it a pretentious act on my part and there just may not be any way round that. I'm back to work now. Austin is hot & humid and Mexican smoke is making the place unhealthy. SF has clearly spoiled me.

I tell you truthfully, this topic excites me. Pain & pleasure signals reside very close together in the brain and taboo is taboo and we don't want to change the eroticism of that now do we? I have no markings yet amigos. Please continue to encourage me to do something to my body that has the taboo of permanence. You won't regret your boosting and I will certainly write about it. The comments I will make upon completion of the task will certainly be worth your efforts. It won't take much, my mind is 2/3rds the way made up.
Re: Re: Piercings and tatoos! by tommie on 2003-10-28 06:13:22  |  Reply to this
What you need to start thinking about is what you think would look good on your body and where you want to put it. Don't just go to the tattoo shop and look through flash (the pre-drawn commercial selections), but think of something original that would be proud to display. Looking through flash can give you some ideas/inspiration, but I suggest aspiring for something unique. While you may want to draw it yourself, a really good, reputable artist will sit down with you and start sketching while you talk about your ideas. Getting the right artist is critical! Don't you live in Austin? If you want, I can try to get a reference for you. And PLEASE don't get oriental lettering. It's way too common and Jesus, how do you know what it really says? The chart may show a character it states means "patience" but are you really sure it doesn't mean "I'm an idiot?" I must admit that one time I considered getting the character(s) for "fuck you", so that when someone asked me what it meant I could tell 'em!

I found the place. Tuesday night, while walking the 6th street corridor, I happened into a parlour along the route and made the discovery I was hoping for. The man was named "Bear" and I'm not sure he chose the name or was named that because he was a member of a "bear" club but he is a master of the 'branding' trade. He showed me a on his body the brand of a Commanche tomahawk placed in the hand of an inked on Indian riding a horse. The scar was filled with burgundy coloring and looked very professional. I asked him if he could design a custom brand from a CAD/CAM application I use at work and he said it would be fine as long as it was easily traceable to an iron mould. Before I go any further let me tell you that he showed me video of a muscular man in the act of being branded with a UT Longhorn on his chest. It appeared to be nothing less than torture. I must decide now how much coedine I will consume before I'm set ablaze. Also, the amount of keloid scarring varies from person to person and in his picture book the 'puffiness' factor of each scar was dramatic. Unimaginable pain for this body art but I will follow through.

Well, JohnnyG, you are being quite progressive here with the branding! I take it you are kidding about the codiene; no reputable artist will work on you if you've used drugs or alcohol. But not to worry; branding is not very painful... while it is being done. The pain comes during the healing process. My stepson tells me that during the procedure it acutally feels like it is very cold, rather than hot. He studied branding and peircing under the reknown artist Fakir Musafar in San Fransisco a few years ago, and we went out to see him while he was there. The branding will show up best if your complexionis dark or in a location which can be tanned.
Re: Re: Piercings and tatoos! by JohnnyG on 2003-10-30 11:58:13  |  Reply to this
Some will have difficulty determining the extent of my exaggerations when I write for the sake of merriment but I think tommie you know me well enough to conclude I will stick strictly to heroin for pain reduction. The matter of 'pain threshold' is highly individual. A sizzling red hot poker to the nipple may feel cold to JohnnyQ but to JohnnyG it will feel hot and uncomfortable and so a good strong dose of smack will take care of the discomfort. No,no,no,no.......tommie, of course I'll have a shot of tequila before the procedure but no CNS-messer-depressers, I will be in full control of my faculties. As in the video I observed, there is 'intense' pain at skin contact if the skin is not numbed with topical anesthetic. The surface area of the brand also plays a role in the number of nerve endings affected. Thanks tommie for your input. Hey, you got the phone # for Fakir??
Re: Re: Re: Piercings and tatoos! by JohnnyG on 2003-10-30 12:05:07  |  Reply to this
One other item to note. A brand can be done by taking a soldering type instrument and tracing the contours of a design onto skin or in this case, a cast design on stainless steel plate which is 'imprinted' onto the skin through high temp. Sound like fun?

Fakir's school site is at http://www.bodyplay.com/school. Soldering iron? The work I've seen done is either one of two ways. The first is be heating up small lenths of metal strip (usually 1" or less), held with vice grips, over a propane torch and applied as as individual segments of the composite. The other is to "draw" with an electrical surgical cauterizing tool, as shown on Fakir's website. You need to ask this guy to see his portfolio and get some references. We all know that if he has a nice brand on his own body, he didn't do it himself.

OK; my stepsone is here. He knows who "Bear" is and said that he should be OK for tattooing, but doesn't know anything about his branding skills. He tells me that the best, by far, in Austin is either Chris or Jason at Perfection Tattoo on Guadalupe.

Such a small world tommie. Bear practices his art at a parlour between Stubbs and Emos on Red River near 6th street. I am amazed your stepson knows Bear. I did not mean a word of what I said in regards to Bear being called "Bear" because he may be in a "bear club". How would I ever assume anyone on this site would have knowledge of this man and so I took liberty with my writings. I continue my investigations into branding and will follow up on the information you provided. My virgin skin is to be marked soon.

Y'know, actualy, Wash's dream about tommy: maybe this should really be in the "has this site disolved into a gay chat site" or whatever it's called.

In any case, it was a good dream, but didn't deserve a new topic being created for. The list of topics goes down way too far as it is, mainly due to the prendy & fosters of the world.

I love this comment. Really. Its the 'to the point' nature of it. And "some bender" at the end. Almost throwaway....genius.
